(Older) News! July 10, 2016: So an update, we are indeed playing as a five-piece now, with Leo on bass! Let's hear it for starting off with a few long sets, to help build up a reportoire. We've got great shows coming up soon, including Curwensville Days on July 14, Flood City Music Fest on August 5, the Valewood Farms annual Farm to Table dinner on August 20, and Windber Bluegrass on September 20th. His car doesn't fit an upright, but maybe we'll spot one of those skinny Les Claypool numbers at a flea market... July 22, 2015: Several cool shows coming up yet, including the Valewood Farms Farm to Table dinner in August, and just a few weeks later, the first ever Edgewater Bluegrass Fest! November 17, 2014: We had a good time at some great festivals this summer. We'll be in Ligonier this Friday at the Coffeehouse at Mill Creek, and then we're looking forward to ringing in the New Year as part of Celebration Johnstown! Also wanted to mention: the fine site PennsylvaniaBluegrass.com is now carrying our album. They have a lot of other great bands as well, check them out! June, 2014: Well, we were rained out at the Bandshell this past weekend. But we're looking forward to three great festivals later this summer! Flood City Music Fest: August 1-3 Wills Mountain Fest: August 8-10 Windber Bluegrass Fest: Saturday, September 6 May, 2014: We've got some great shows lining up for the summer. We're happy to be back at the Roxbury Bandshell this summer, and are looking forward to the Wills Mountain Festival in mid-August (great lineup!). We're excited to be a part of the first Windber Bluegrass Festival in September, and are looking forward to some more exciting shows for the summer & fall schedule. We're writing and learning new songs, and tinkering with some new instrumentation - hope to see you soon! October, 2013: We had a blast last month playing some new festivals, and got to hear a lot of great music along the way. We're looking forward to opening for The Stray Birds on December 8th at VOMA. We're taking it easy until then - looking forward to attending the Broken Fences show at VOMA on November 8th, and then at the Tauk show at VOMA on the 21st, so maybe we'll see you out and about between now and the 8th of December! (btw, Adam is a part of Justin Giuffre & the Pilgrimage, who will be playing with Broken Fences & Apache Moon on Nov 8th) August, 2013: Festival time is here for our region and our band! We'll be appearing at the following great festivals over the next couple of months and hope to see you there: August 9-11: Wills Mountain Festival, Bedford, PA. Featuring Yarn, Ben Sollee, Danger Muffin, The Black Lillies, Drifgwood, Cabint, and many more! We'll be appearing on Sunday as part of the all-day bluegrass lineup. August 30 - September 1: Ethnic Fest in Johnstown's Cambria City area. We'll be appearing on the VOMA stage during Ethnic Fest. September 6-7: Northern Appalachian Folk Festival, Indiana, PA. September 19-21: Appalachian Festival 2013 at Frosburg State University, Frostburg, MD. June 2, 2013: Our debut album is out! Striped Maple Hollow is available in person, and on: iTunes Amazon MP3 Bandcamp CDBaby (both downloads and CD's available at CD Baby) And streaming services like Rdio and Spotify! We have one track available in advance online, visit the music page to check it out. We're also playing in Indiana, PA, on Friday May 24, at The Artists Hand Gallery, from 6 to 8pm. Hope to see you there! April, 2013: We are happy to announce that our debut, self-titled album, Striped Maple Hollow, is finished, and will be officially released on June 1st! We'll be having a CD release show that night at VOMA, with The Whiskey River Panhandlers and Dan Oatman (from The Crew of the Half Moon), and hope you can make it out. We also have a great lineup of shows this year, including our first trip to Indiana, PA, in May, and appearances at the Wills Mountain Festival (Bedford, PA) in August, the Northern Appalachian Folk Festival (Indiana, PA) and Frostburg State Appalachian Festival (Frostburg, MD) in September. January, 2013: On Friday, February 8, 2013, we will be appearing at VOMA in Johnstown with Broken Fences and The Crew of the Half Moon We are glad to welcome Pittsburgh's Broken Fences to VOMA! Broken Fences are an indie-folk duo who were recently named WYEP's band of the year for 2012. The Crew of the Half Moon are Dan and Kate from Johnstown, Pennsylvania. They create music by swapping around the guitar, harmonica, piano, bass guitar, mandolin, and lap steel. Doors open at 7pm, music starts at 8pm, all ages, BYOB with ID, and it's $5.00 December, 2012: Just a reminder that Christmas in Whiskey Hollow, our joint Christmas EP with The Whiskey River Panhandlers, is available now: in person, on iTunes, and on Amazon MP3! And speaking of Christmas in Whiskey Hollow, we now have O Come O Come Emmanuel online - it's the only song on the EP that we can put up for streaming, due to the song licensing. Hope you like it! August, 2012: We've started recording songs for our upcoming, as-of-yet untitled debut album. We've had two very productive recording sessions and hope to have another one or two in the coming weeks to round out the album. We also have several shows coming up in the first half of September! We'll be playing the VOMA stage at Ethnic Fest on Saturday, September 1st; a fund-raiser at Aces on Friday, September 7th, and an art show opening at the Keynote Cafe in Jeanette on Saturday, September 15! July, 2012: On Friday, July 27,: We will be opening at the brand new People's Natural Gas Park in Johnstown for Chris Smither! Friday, July 27, 7:00pm. Essential Machine is an indie/folk due from Greensburg, and this will be their first appearance in Johnstown. They have a great new EP out that you can check out through their site. Doors open at 7pm, music starts at 8pm, all ages, BYOB for 21+, and it's $5.00 March, 2012: Several things to mention! So here goes: Thurdsay, March 22, 2012: We will be appearing on Central PA Live on WTAJ-TV on Thursday, March 22. The show airs live from 4 to 5, and we'll on to talk about the Art Works in Johnstown "An Evening With" series and play a few songs. Saturday, March 24: Art Works in Johnstown presents An Evening With Mandolin Orange, with special guests Striped Maple Hollow. $10, doors open at 6:00pm, BYOB. We now have t-shirts!
